Physical DescriptionTranslucent yellow-green uranium glass; mold-blown, cut, enameled, gilt. Flaring, conical shape, its walls cut into 8 vertical facets. Each facet is decorated with an applied medallion enameled with small Chinoiserie motifs. The heavy base is cut into 8 protruding claws. Below the medallions is a gilt continuous band of a paneled fence in zig-zag formation. Behind this fence are blossoming cherry or plum trees delineated in gold, their tree tops reaching up to the gilt rim of the vessel. A butterfly flutters near the rim of one panel. Each medallion illustrates a small Chinese figure, beginning with a boy holding a balancing toy, followed by a dancing boy and a boy holding a black stick or a pipe, then an older man with yellow cap reading a book or tablet, a man in blue gown standing frontally, a man in green gown standing in half-turned position, a woman seated on a bench holding an umbrella, then a standing woman holding a beige rectangular object under her left arm.Provenance
