Physical DescriptionEngraved Beaker. Colorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. Tapered, straight-sided, cylindrical shape; cut, tapered rim; engraved bands of foliage and polished oval facets below the rim; rectangular panels on the front and back, each with elaborately engraved scenes: one panel depicting a woman, seated, alongside a cornucopia spilling its wealth of flowers and fruit onto the ground, a basket of flowers and fruit alongside, a sheaf of grain behind, within a wooded setting, a palm tree at the left foreground; a rectangular panel below, inscribed "Gluck" in script; on the reverse, a seated woman, leaning on a table with steaming horn-shaped goblet, within a wooded setting; a rectangular panel below inscribed "Fleiss" in script; between the panels, formal arrangements of flowers and foliage; horizontal bands of fine cross-hatched cutting below, with polished circular facets, each with three slices at the left; petal-cut feet, with cut radial grooves and rounded panels on the bottom.
