Physical DescriptionBottle. Purple (appears almost black in reflected light), with opaque white trail. Blown (body blown in dip mold); applied, dragged, marvered. Bottle: horizontal cross section of body is circular at top, but becomes roughly square about 1 cm below shoulder. Rim folded out, up, and in to form rounded lip; neck narrow and cylindrical, but narrowing slightly before expanding to form hollow bulge at bottom; shoulder rounded; wall straight and tapering; base square; pontil mark covers entire base. Decoration consists of single trail dropped onto bottom of wall and wound in very uneven spiral 10 times around body, shoulder, and most of rim; all but lowest three circuits of trail were then dragged vertically to produce 10 contiguous festoons.Provenance
