Physical DescriptionTranslucent deep blue glass matrix, applied trails of opaque white, opaque yellow and opaque turquoise, thin iridescent film on rim, neck and one side of vessel, patches of deep brown weathering on other side; core-formed. Rounded rim is flattened before bending in to slightly tapering cylindrical neck; before forming the rim, neck was decorated with twelve trails of opaque white; in center is thicker trail of opaque turquoise bordered above and below white opaque yellow, each separated from the turquoise by two opaque white trails; the series was marvered into surface and dragged up from body to rim thirteen times; vessel wall spreads out into a lentoid form slightly flattened at the shoulder, a wide oval in profile; a heavy trail of opaque white is applied around the neck at the shoulder, a second trail runs from the collar on one side and bisects the form vertically running up the other side to the collar; a third trail bisects the form horizontally, the intersection of the trails on the "front" is at right angles; on the "back" the trail ends of the horizontal band are out of line as the excess trail was pulled up and away; the white cross is divided by two diagonal trails which form a double cross, dividing each face into eight roughly equal segments; on the "back" the trails are somewhat out of line where they intersect, starting at the opaque white collar trail on the shoulder, an opaque turquoise trail runs around the greatest diameter of the vessel up to the other side; none of these body trails have been marvered into the surface; two strap handles, each formed of a trail of opaque yellow fused between a trail of deep blue have been applied on the neck and bend up and out before curving down to attach to the body along the line formed by the opaque turquoise trail.Provenance
