Physical DescriptionTranslucent white glass cased in colorless non-lead glass, polychrome glass enamels, gold leaf; blown, repeated painting and firing, gold leaf fired on top of enamels. Flattened ovoid vessel, short-necked ovoid opening with fire-polished rim painted black, slightly upturned on ends, vessel tapers in to narrow base; overall background painting of deep blue over-brushed with black, front side almost completely (extending to base) covered with soft-edge portrait of a dark-skinned female with forward staring eyes and full lips, orange-yellow drapery frames and covers head then extends over one shoulder partially obscuring neckline of green dress, squared format of portrait ground is topped by a gold notched crown and surrounded by short rays with irregular edges extending over sides of vessel; back side has scattered splotches of gold over the blue background; ovoid base ground flat, no pontil; inscribed in script on base: "Walt Lieberman/1994".
