Physical DescriptionColorless, opaque red and green low lead glass, metallic gold; Blown and cast into pre-heated fabricated steel mold, off-hand finished, luster-fired, sandblasted, engraved, cut and polished. Vertical heavy-walled vessel, with tapered side edges; elliptical opening with red lip wrap; just below wrap is 1" band of gold luster decorated with overall small engraved perforations; band is decorated with flattened patty of red overlaid by a smaller patty of green (with metallic specks) with short horizontal trail along section of opening edge; upper half of body swells slightly around deep red bubble (forming cavity) with solid base inclusion of small green cone tipped in red; red bubble cased in colorless forming solid lower half of body; horizontal rectangle of gold fired over red area of body and engraved with linear scene of landscape with three mountains or pyramids over a band depicting bowls, over a narrow reclining figure; overall exterior matte finish with/ mottled texture on lover 2/3 of body; base ground and polished flat; inscribed in script on base: "Brian A. Hirst 1988-1989/Cycladic Series/Guardian II"; also a quatrefoil pressed or sandblasted into glass near base corner on back side.
