Physical Description12 Apostle Beakers. Colorless lead glass; blown, cut, engraved, gilded. Cylindrical shape with slightly everted rim, cut and gilt rim; band of oval facets at the base; cut bottom with cut six-pointed star; engraved decoration: oval panel on the side of each glass, framed with elaborate scroll-work, each containing a Saint, and inscribed in gilding above: (A) halloed Saint, holding a book in his right hand, a column in his left, with another column behind, inscribed "S.ANDREAS,"; (B) halloed Saint, holding a knife in his left hand, inscribed "S.BARTHOLOMEUS."; (C) halloed Saint, holding a tall, triangular blade (?) in his left hand, inscribed "S.IACOBVS, MAIOR,"; (D) halloed Saint, holding a staff, topped by a small cross, in his right hand, while he gestures toward a ship with his left, inscribed "S.IACOBVS,,MINNOR,"; (E) halloed Saint, holding a chalice from which issues a serpent, inscribed "S,IOHANNES,"; (F) halloed Saint, resting a club on his left shoulder, inscribed S,IVDAS,,TA,,"; (G) halloed Saint, holding a large sword, resting on its point in the ground, inscribed "S.PAVLVS,,"; (H) halloed Saint, holding an axe, inscribed "S,MATTEVS,"; (I) kneeling halloed Saint, with two linked keys on the ground before him, inscribed "S.PETRVS,"; (J) halloed Saint, holding a crucifix, inscribed "S.PHILIPPVS,"; (K) halloed figure of Jesus Christ, holding an orb in his left hand, his right raised in blessing, inscribed "SALVATOR,MVNDI,"; (L) halloed Saint, holding a long saw in his right hand, inscribed "S,SIMMON."Provenance
