Physical DescriptionBeaker. Colorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, double-walled, gilt. Tapered, straight-sided, cylindrical shape; double-walled, with the outer glass ending below the inner glass, the inner glass with a ledge rim; cut vertical panels on the sides; inset flat disk on the base; gilt decoration between the two glasses with a straight band and scratched horizontal line below the rim; a continuous landscape with the figure of a saint on one side, a six-pointed star on his forehead, a radiance about his head, holding a bouquet of flowers in his raised right hand, holding an opened book in his left hand, a dog at his feet holding a torch in its mouth before a rosary, surrounded by clouds; on the reverse, a large castle on a hill, with trees in the foreground and at the sides; incised linear band below the scene; a band of repeated stylized acanthus leaves at the bottom; a linear band below, faintly scratched "DOMINICUS" below the saint; gilt crowned mirror monogram "AV" flanked by palm fronds in the bottom, backed with transparent red resin.Provenance
