Physical DescriptionClear glass with minute bubbles; free-blown and painted, slightly fired. Cylindrical body with slightly pushed up base having rough pontil mark; enamel decoration: the Humpen is divided into two zones showing the seven Electors mounted on white horses proceeding to the left, clad in red and ermine coats and accompanied by their coats of arms, they ride under arcades resting on blue columns with white capitals and bases; on the arcades their names (CHUR - HANOW (HANNOVER:) - HESSEN - BAADEN - BEYERN - SACHSEN - B FALTZ - BRANDE(NBURG); the upper zone contains the date: "MDCCXV:"; both zones are divided by red and white bands and a grass strip, little rosettes in olive and blue as well as white and red star ornaments fill the spaces above the Electors, the upper arcades are framed on top of yellow, blue and red lines as well as white dots, white dashes around the bottom of the vessel.Provenance
