Physical DescriptionColorless glass with dark green, red, yellow and brown inclusions; gold; opaque pink, light blue, dark blue, yellowish-green and brown enamels; blown, wheel-cut, probably acid-etched, gilded and enameled. Vase: everted rim with rounded lip; short neck, which splays at bottom; wall curves downward and inward from sharp angle at shoulder; disk base with rounded edge and flat bottom. Colorless glass has two areas of dark green, red, yellow and brown inclusions which originate at base and swirl upward to rim, on opposite sides of vessel. Wheel-cut, probably acid-etched, gilded and enameled decoration on outside of rim, neck and wall: on wall, fifteen wheel-cut gadroons which originate immediately above foot and sweep upward and clockwise to bottom of shoulder; on rim, neck and wall, many flower-like motifs, each with plain circular center and long, very narrow curving petals, many of which retain traces of gilding, against rough (acid-etched?) background; over each area of inclusions, stylized dragonfly with acid-etched(?) outlines filled with gilding, and gilded and colored enamel details. Signature scratched or etched on base, near edge: two lines, "E. Gallé/ Nancy"; number scratched on base: "133".
