Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; mold-blown, gilt; cast, gilt-bronze mount. (a) Tall, hollow vase, in the form of a torch; ground, flat top, engraved; gilt, rounded rim; molded and gilt band of feathers above a rounded, bulbous ridge, with raised letters on the front; molded, gilt band of stiff foliage below, with another bulbous, rounded ridge; a threaded bronze collar affixed below this ridge, to attach to (b); tapered, straight-sided section with gilt swags of ovals, tied with bows, and with flowers on the swags, ropes with tassels pendant from the bows; a band of ovals above; scattered stars; molded, gilt, raised band of ovals above another, shorter, tapered straight-sided section with gilt floral devices and stars; ending at the bottom in a molded bulbous section with swirling, gilt foliage, and a pendant knop, with cut diamonds, gilt, arranged in a swirling pattern. (b) Gilt bronze holder, with ribbon-molded ring with cut threading on the inner surface, to attach to the threaded ring on (a); attached to a long rod of five-sided cross-section, which slides into a ribbon- and foliage-decorated sleeve of square cross-section; a set screw at the end; mounted on an elaborate leaf-molded sleeve, mounted by a short post to a rectangular leaf-molded wall plate, with four holes for screws.
