Physical DescriptionClear glass with few minute bubbles and impurities, some artificially applied clouding; free-blown, enameled and gilded. Straight-sided beaker slightly tapering downward to slightly concave base with rough pontil mark; on the obverse a red shield with white implements of the saddle makers craft, flanked by the full-length figures of a couple, in predominantly yellow and blue, the man having a glove in his right hand and opening his left hand, the woman holding a yellow branch-like object in her right hand, above: "IONES TAMATZ ANNO 1610"; on the reverse: "Wen du trinckest aus diesem glas, allezeit solt du gedencken das Asche und sandt ist es gewessen und also wirst auch werden, wen dich gott wird fordern von der Erden" (When you drink out of this glass you should always remember that it was made from ashes and sand, and so also you will become (ashes and sand) when God will take you away from the earth); grass tufts strip at bottom; in the empty spaces white rosettes and stars consisting of dots, and lines, red line around the bottom, rim is gilded and is accompanied by a row of white beads.
