Physical DescriptionOpaque very dark purple, appearing black in reflected light (matrix); opaque yellow, light green, blue, red, black, brown, and white (inlays). Probably cast; then inlaid, ground, and polished. Fragment from wall or floor of shallow vessel. Inner surface inlaid with bird and three circular motifs. Bird, shown in profile walking to right, has long curving beak, round head, narrow neck, body, legs, feet, and part of wing, shown in yellow; eye is circular, with central black dot surrounded by one white ring and brown outer ring; at back of head, prominent crest consisting of single red, blue, and green stripes; lower edge of wing is black; and tail consists of single red, blue, and green stripes. Circular motifs (D. 0.7 cm) have red dot at center, and inner black and outer green concentric rings.
