Physical DescriptionBrown salt-glazed stoneware; molded, enameled, gilt. (a) Hexagonal, tall shape; circular top, with applied pewter rim with cylindrical threaded sleeve; waisted neck; rounded shoulders; vertical sides; molded raised stylized flowers on the shoulders, enameled blue and white or red and white; six oval panels on the sides, framed with chains at the top and bottom, with angel's heads between, their wings joined over their heads, with bunches of fruit below; the panels with molded coats of arms in shields, all but one supported by angels with red wings and yellow haloes, and with molded figures in the lower parts of the panels, each with the name inscribed in black on a white ribband overhead; blue backgrounds; the coats of arms and figures including a coat of arms with fleur-de-lis in an oval red panel with fleur-de-lis crest, inscribed "I.N./M L [?]." above, "16/84." below, with the figure of "SATVRNVS." below; the next with a double-headed black eagle; ("Reichsadler") on a yellow shield, above the figure labeled "IUPITER."; the next with blue-and-white checkered shield of Bavaria, above the figure labeled "MARS.", the next with yellow and black striped shield with green crown, of Saxony, above "SOL."; the next with a red eagle on a white shield, of Austria (?), above "VENVS."; and a blue orb of state on a red shield (all shields also bear a molded design of a coat of arms featuring a vertically divided field with eagle (?) in the left side, chevron bands on the right), above "MERCVRIVS./LVNA."; concave base with black ink inscription "1267", black painted "3.", and a spot of red sealing wax. (b) Slightly domed, cylindrical shape, with molded rim and incised bands; ribbed, ring top, with loose scrolled ring; two hallmarks on the cover, one an eagle, the other with the letters "I/M"; threaded inside, to fit the threaded sleeve on (a).
