Physical DescriptionHeavy clear glass; decorated with enameled white glass medallion, gilded and cut. Cylindrical body with flat base having very slight pontil mark; the beaker has a pattern of horizontally oriented cut ridges; a medallion is applied and fused to the obverse; it consists of a layer of opaque white glass, showing in sepia enameling the profile portrait of Tsar Alexander I in uniform; above, in Russian: "Liberator of Europe"; the edge of the medallion as well as the plain rim of the beaker are gilded, the rim being gilded also on the interior; an "X" is engraved below the medallion at the edge of the beaker, slightly off center, apparently to indicate where the medallion is supposed to be.Provenance
