Physical DescriptionOpaque white and transparent plum color, lead glass; blown, overlaid, etched, cameo-carved. Shallow, circular shape, with slightly upcurved rim; plum overlaid on the front with opaque white; the white cameo-carved to create a depiction of a nude woman reclining in a shell, holding an infant in her lap, dangling a large leaf in the water from her right hand; a long veil billowing above; shell floating in a pond, with flowering waterlillies in the foreground, a cattail and other foliage at the left, bamboo-like foliage at the right; signed (incised) at the lower right "G. Woodall / 1884"; encircled by a formal border at the rim, of repeated leaves and pendant flower buds; two printed circular paper collection labels on the reverse: inscribed "E. L. PAGET / COLLECTION / 217" and "COLLECTION OF DR. & MRS. LEONARD S. RAKOW / CG-15."Provenance
