Physical DescriptionBrown salt-glazed stoneware; turned, molded, enameled. Squat, cylindrical shape; tapered rim with molded ring below, enameled yellow; blue and white "ropework" enameled bands on either side of a wide band of vertical faceting, enameled blue, yellow, and white in vertical rows; molded, enameled, raised coat of arms displaying a red bull's head on a blue shield; the coat of arms displayed against a light green background, within a frame of bundled yellow foliage, with stylized red flowers at the top and bottom of the frame; band of white lines spaced with sets of three red dots above the sloping foot; band of enameled red and blue tulips interspersed with a wavy green vine, and white- enameled, relief-molded inscription "W : B : V : K : 1 6 8 6", the date incised, and the floral band enameled over gouged decoration; slightly concave base, inscribed in faded brown ink "18143./B n E [?] M"; square paper label (the remains of a printed leather collection label) impressed "EDWIN J./ BEINECKE/ COLLECTION" and an illegible number; applied loop handle with incised herringbone band, enameled blue, white, and yellow; domed pewter cover hinged to the handle, with wriggle-work bands; inset pewter medal in the center, with rabbits, deer, an elephant, and a boar in landscape, with a stag leaping from high rocks at the right, inscribed around the top "AUF GRUNEN WALD ...ENTHALT"; ribbed ball thumb-piece.
