Interpretive Notes
This vase was part of a collection of early modern glass assembled by Harvey Littleton, the “father” of American studio glass. He used the collection to teach his students about glassworking processes. The wrought-iron mount was made in Nancy by the French furniture designer Louis Majorelle (1859–1926).
Physical DescriptionTransparent red, and opaque white glass; cased, blown into wrought iron mount, gold-foil inclusion. Flaring cylindrical shape vase with wrought iron mount, the glass of the vase "bubbles" out between sections of the mount. Mount has hanging, flower shaped handles.
