Physical DescriptionCanes of translucent amethyst, opaque brick-red, opaque white and turquoise, dull, brown weathering product on sides and back, surface repolished recently; mosaic glass or millefiori technique, cut and polished. Horizontal inlay strip preserves a repetitious pattern of four stylized floral motifs beginning with an ivy sprig in red and amethyst generated from an amethyst volute, next a palmette in red and amethyst, a stylized anthemion (?) formed with a red center and double volutes on either side, finally a stylized lotus bud with turquoise center capped with red, the leaves formed in amethyst and finally a repeat of the first ivy motif, all in an opaque white matrix.Provenance
