Physical DescriptionInlay Shaped like Human Torso. Canes of opaque red, opaque yellow, opaque white, translucent blue-green, translucent deep blue, pitted, dull, perhaps deformed by heat; mosaic glass or millefiori technique. Fragment preserves torso and waist of an elaborately draped figure. Below a small segment of blue stomach, the waist is belted with a horizontal feather pattern of turquoise, white, blue and red, outlined above and below with white; a white diagonal line runs down from the belt indicating division between the thighs, the upper part of the kilt consists of a checkerboard design of yellow and white squares arranged on a central blue square in a field of red squares, a sash in the shape of an upside down V separates this design from the lower design of yellow rosettes cased with amethyst or blue in an opaque red ground; the sash is outlined in white and there is a series of yellow stylized palmettes cased with amethyst and highlighted with red in a blue-green field.
