Physical DescriptionTranslucent deep blue, translucent bluish-green, opaque yellow, opaque red, opaque white and amethyst appearing black glass, dull, pitted, some heavy weathering crust adhering to (II): mosaic glass or millefiori technique. (I): Biconical yellow bead, three bands of mosaic glass wound around center, central band has circular yellow canes cased and divided in three by red and surrounded by a band of alternating rays of amethyst and white, each rosette is separated by a narrow band of yellow above and below this are bordering strips of alternating stripes red, white and amethyst respectively: one-quarter of the bead is broken away and reveals that the object was wound around a metal rod. (II): Roughly spherical bead, opaque white glass, heavily weathered with red register containing four canes of mosaic glass women's faces. (III): Short cylindrical bead of translucent deep blue glass decorated with criss-cross or network pattern of gold glass strips, spaces filled with small mosaic glass eyes, yellow center in an amethyst and yellow ground. (IV, V) Similar beads of bluish-green glass with black and white criss-cross or yellow and black criss-cross respectively, heavily weathered eyes, apparently yellow and black.Provenance
