Physical DescriptionColorless; cut, printed, cold-painted, glued. Slides consisting of two rectangles of colorless sheet glass framed in green paper tape around edges. The slides are divided into printed segments separated by vertical lines. The two scenes on the left illustrate the story of the Devil in the Bottle. Left illustration: the devil appears in a cloud of smoke; Plichinel kneels in front of him, his arms raised in a gesture of surprise. Center illustration: the devil dances on the left, holding his trident. Plichinel leans on a fountain on the right holding a ladel(?). Right illustration: the devil leaves to the left, while Polichinel on the right is mocking him. The text in the far right panel reads, "N 11. Enfin me voila libre, merci Arlequin ou est ce coquin de Polichinel.... caddeau (?)/ voila le diabl (six) câché courons à l'eau benite/ N 12. Aye etye cette eau benite me/ brûle... coquin de Polichinel tu me / le payeras. N 19. hi hi hi je me moque bien de toi si tu reviens je te flanquerai encore/ de l'eau benite sur le nez. fin."Provenance
