Physical DescriptionClaret Jug in "Venetian" Pattern. Transparent "cranberry" glass, sterling silver, gold wash; blown, cut. Jug with sterling silver mount and "Venetian" pattern. Cylindrical body slightly narrower at top; glass rim covered by silver collar, pouring spout, cover and handle one piece of tooled silver which fits over top rim is ornamented with a flower and scroll design on neck, row of flowers on collar, scrolls on hinged cover, and plain, hollow ear-shaped handle extending from neck to body which it does not touch. Body is cut through ruby glass to colorless in a pattern of fans on top, above six vertical diamonds filled with cross-hatching and stars above six diamond filled pointed arches; multi-pointed star on base.
