Physical DescriptionApollo 14 Beta Cloth from the "Space Artifact Series of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation". Beta cloth (Teflon-coated glass fibers), Lucite; woven, assembled. Square swatch of Beta cloth made of woven Teflon-coated glass fiber encased in colorless Lucite molded in a cylindrical form with a sloping top. Circular label encased in base of Lucite reads, "APOLLO 14 / Shepard Roosa Mitchell" on top and "2010 / SPACE / ARTIFACT / SERIES / This swatch of Beta cloth, the same type of glass / woven fiber fabric used to cover the astronauts’ / spacesuits, was flown to the Moon on the Apollo 14 / Command Module, Kittyhawk, January 31 / through February 9, 1971. / This artifact is from the personal collection of / Edgar Mitchell / 162 of 200 / Created exclusively by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation".Provenance
