Physical DescriptionFragment, possibly from a Lamp. Almost colorless, with yellowish tinge; decorated in gold and red. Blown in dip mold; gilded, enameled. Lamp(?). Rim plain, with rounded lip; neck (Th. 0.3-0.35 cm) tapers; top of shoulder extends out and down; remains of handle attachment 4.9 cm below lip; shallow ribs begin just below third band of ornament (see below) and continue beyond bottom of fragment; ribs are almost vertical, but slant slightly down from right to left. Decoration on neck consists of four presumably continuous horizontal bands. On upper neck: three bands of gilded decoration separated by gilded borders, and with gilded borders at top and bottom; borders and ornament in band (2) are outlined in red; from top to bottom: (1) is narrow, with imitation of neskhi inscription; (2) is wider and has legible neskhi inscription; and (3) is similar to (1). At bottom of neck: between borders above and below it, narrow band with imitation of neskhi inscription; borders and “inscription” are outlined in red.
