Physical Description"Shift" Side Table. Translucent yellow glass with white inner casing; mold-blown, hot-worked, cut, sandblasted. "Shift" is a functional side table that consists of a thick, hollow racket-shaped top on top of a hollow, slightly flattened cylindrical base. The table is mold-blown in one operation, using a multi-part steel mold. It requires four skilled glassblowers to blow one large gather of glass into a three-part steel mold for the top of the table, which is joined with a two-part steel mold for the base. After annealing, the base of the table is cut and the entire table is sandblasted to produce a matte finish.
