Physical DescriptionColorless, dark ruby-red non-lead glasses; blown, overlay, cut, gilt. Ovoid, panel-cut glass body; colorless with ruby lining; gilt bands outlining the facets; silver mounts: cylindrical rim with stamped ropework border; hinged lid with ribbed ball top and paneled, pointed finial, with a rounded notch in the side, hallmarked on the inside with a female head facing dexter; hinged to a flat strap handle with engraved ribs, shaped as a curved figure "7" with looped tail; held onto the foot with a threaded screw and nut; domed foot on three tiny ball feet, with ribbed sides; partial maker's mark on the underside of the foot and on the rim at top, a crescent moon and the letter "P"; the foot attached to the bowl with a threaded screw with rounded cap and square nut; gummed circular paper label inscribed "162" in blue ball-point ink on the foot
