Physical DescriptionCovered Goblet. Colorless, ruby-red (possibly gold-ruby), amethyst non-lead glass; blown, threaded, cut. (a) Straight-sided, tapered bowl, with rounded base; polished flat vertical panels on the side, with diamond and rounded facets at the base; the sides enclosing spiral gold- flecked ruby and alternating amethyst threads; multi-knopped stem, composed of an angular merese, above a faceted ball knop, two mereses, a faceted ball knop, two mereses, a faceted ball knop, and a capstan, the ball knops enclosing multiple spirals of gold-flecked ruby alternating with amethyst; large disk foot with gold-flecked ruby and amethyst spiral threads; faceted rim; rough pontil mark. (b) Domed form with cut, tapered brim; covered with rounded and hexagonal facets; finial composed of a faceted ball knop, two mereses, a faceted ball knop and a merese, the ball knops enclosing multiple spiral gold-flecked ruby and amethyst threads; rough pontil mark inside.
