Interpretive Notes
In this thick-walled, decorative vessel, the designer Heinrich Hussmann capitalized on the range of effects possible with acid etching. Hussmann brought his imaginative designs to life on the surfaces of this vase through stark contrasts in decorative treatment and varying depths between the stylized imagery and the rough background.
Physical DescriptionVase. Transparent green glass; blown, sand-blasted, acid-etched. Transparent green, blown glass vase with sand-blasted, and acid-etched decoration. The vase has a flared rim and the exterior wall is decorated with a floral and vegetal motif.
