Physical DescriptionClear glass; free-blown, enameled, gilded and cut. Square pedestal foot with flat underside tapering paneled stem supporting cylindrical beaker-shaped bowl; around the bowl a broad band containing the following decoration: on the obverse the portrait bust of a lady in an ornate coiffure turned to the right executed in transparent soft enameled colors and treated with acid, the panel being framed by a gilded frame with triangles containing blossoms in the corners; on the reverse a rose wreath encircling a lyre; on top a butterfly and below the inscription: "L. Fehr pinx Dresden, d. 27, August 1810"; the other two panels are almost identical and contain, between two horizontal bands roses, an ornate tendril motif in a heart-shaped formation in gold; against a black background, and an elongated vase and two obelisks in silver superimposed onto this decoration (the silver has partly worn off); the beveled edge of the beaker is gilded, the edges of the stepped foot are gilded; the stem is painted black with gold lilies and dashes; the lower bowl is fluted.
