Interpretive Notes
The bronze mount was made in Gustav Gurschner’s Paris workshop, while the glass was made by the Bohemian glass firm, Johann Loetz Witwe. Well-known in his day, Gurschner produced a variety of decorative objects as well as sculptures in bronze.

Physical DescriptionColorless and yellow-brown glass; mold-blown, iridized and decorated with silver-stain in a feather pattern; patinated bronze. Globe is in the form of a stylized blossom, that is actually an inverted vase shape with a rounded top. Circular bronze mount with four feet in the form of stylized plant stalks with a spade shaped head separating into four stems at the top of each. Half-way up each stalk, a bronze shoot bends outward and up to support a bronze ring in which the globe rests. Above the feet is a bronze base which is inset with 12 bosses. On the foot, the lamp is signed GURSCHNER DÉPOSÉ.
