Physical DescriptionBlack Glass; pressed, ground, assembled; metal, tin. Square shaped black inkwell with rectangular panels on each side impressed with flowers and leaves. The top of the inkwell is fitted with a metal collar and knob which screws and unscrews to regulate the flow of ink. The center of the inkwell is a clear glass ribbed neck with opening at the bottom for dipping the pen. Interior of the inkwell contains a tin reservoir for the ink. The bottom of the reservoir retains the original paper label with instructions and " Mt. Washington Glass co., New Bedford, Mass. Headquarters in America for rich cut and decorated glassware. Sole Prop's & Mfr's of Darling'sPatent Ink Stands." The front edge of the inkstand is impressed "Pat. Aug. 30 1887"
