Physical DescriptionGeorge Adams Improved Model Compound Microscope with Accessories. Rolled, extruded, cast brass; ground, polished glass. (a) Base of compound microscope, including adjustable arm that holds a two-sided swiveling substage mirror and a cone-shaped stage. Base has three L-shaped feet, two of which collapse beneath the third for storage. (b) Brass arm, which fits into slot at the top of (a) and holds (c) brass disk with four small glass lenses and (d) cylindrical brass body tube with glass lenses. (e) Convex glass magnifying stage lens in brass frame with brass rod arm. (f) Brass stage forceps. (g) Brass specimen tray//fish plate with red ribbon. (h) Custom mahogany lidded box lined with purple velvet. (i) Key.Provenance
