Physical DescriptionBell-Shaped Bottle. Almost colorless glass, with greenish yellow tint; blown, linear- and slant-cut, perhaps filed, ground, and polished. Bottle with bell-shaped body. Rim plain with flat top and beveled lip; neck shaped like funnel; shoulder rounded; wall straight, slightly splayed; base plain; pontil mark circular (D. about 1.5 cm). Cut and perhaps filed decoration on neck, shoulder, and wall. On neck: uppermost 3.5 cm are cut in seven flat vertical facets separated by narrow unworked strips; bottom of facets overhangs lower part of neck. On shoulder, two continuous horizontal grooves with shallow U-shaped cross sections. On wall, three friezes: from top to bottom: (1) narrow frieze of 12 shallow, roughly semicircular facets (H. 1.9 cm) with curved tops and straight bottoms, above shallow horizontal groove; (2) separated from (1) by shallow groove, wide frieze of 11 shallow parabolic facets (H. 2.7 cm), countersunk at sides and top, and with one shallow triangular facet between tops of each pair of arches; (3) narrow frieze of 11 contiguous rectangular facets (H. 1.7 cm, W. 2.1 cm) with their junctions below centers of parabolic facets. Pontil mark is surrounded by square (L. 3.3 cm) formed by three single cuts and one pair of adjacent cuts.
