Physical DescriptionBallot Box. (a) Colorless glass; molded. Cylindrical glass dome with open base, rounded shoulders, and raised rectangular opening at top. Top inscribed in raised lettering, "NATIONAL BALLOT BOX / PAT'D June 17 1884 / MF'D BY AMOS. PETTIBONE / CHICAGO". (b) Wood box with open sides, circular ring cut in base to hold glass dome, and hinged lid with metal mounts and three locks (no key). Top inscribed in gold, "NATIONAL BALLOT BOX / PAT'D June 17 1884 / MF'D BY AMOS. PETTIBONE / CHICAGO".
