Physical DescriptionAlmost colorless, with green tinge; many minute bubbles. Blown, applied; relief-cut. Ewer with pear-shaped body. Rim outsplayed, with flat top, triangular pouring lip, and internal bevel; upper two-thirds of wall straight, below which it curves down and in; base plain; at center of base, circular depression (D. 1.9 cm), made by grinding, presumably to remove pontil scar. Handle, originally with circular cross section, applied to wall just above widest point, drawn up and in, and attached to outside of rim; it has thumb-rest at highest point. Relief-cut ornament is confined to handle (from top to bottom): thumb-rest, which is parallel to axis of handle, has two narrow triangular projections above two horizontal ribs; handle itself has four contiguous vertical facets, which almost completely cover sides and outer face (one facet is not continuous); lower handle also has two horizontal ribs; lower attachment is cut in form of V.
