Physical DescriptionLarge canes of opaque red and translucent deep blue-green glass forming an overall checkerboard pattern, dull surface on interior, unweathered exterior; mosaic glass or millefiori technique, lathe-polished on interior, fire-polished on exterior. Fragment preserves rim and floor of a shallow vessel with rounded rim and concentric circular polishing grooves on interior and horizontal tooling marks below rim on exterior. Star canes of opaque yellow with translucent bluish-green rays are arranged in two rows of three each in the red cane while floral canes of translucent yellowish-green cased with opaque yellow are placed in two rows of two within the translucent bluish-green square cane.Provenance
