Physical DescriptionColorless with grayish-green tint where glass is thickest; body and base of neck blown in mold; rim finished at glory hole. Bottle: square with corners removed. rim rounded by folding outward, upward and inward; cylindrical neck with bulge at bottom; bulge is square with corners removed when seen from above with sides corresponding with sides of body and base; rounded shoulder, which overhangs upper part of wall; wall descends vertically and then splays before curving in toward bottom; splayed foot is square with corners removed, and concave underneath; pontil mark. Mold-blown relief decoration on bulge at base of neck, shoulder, upper part of wall, lower part of wall, and base. On bulge: on each side, two diamond-shaped bosses. On shoulder: four heraldic devices, one on each side: (clockwise) imperial eagle, arms of British sovereign supported by lion and unicorn and with crown above, arms of House of Savoy with crown above, and star and crescent of Ottoman Empire. On upper part of body, four busts in profile, one on each side: Napoleon III of France (r. 1852-1873), Victoria (r. 1837-1901), Victor Emmanuel II, prince of Savoy and king of Sardinia (r. 1839-1861), and Abdülmecid I of Turkey (r. 1839-1861). On lower part of body: no decoration beneath Napoleon III, identical plant or butterfly-like motif on other three sides. On base: horizontal bands of seven round bosses on each side.
