Physical DescriptionCelery Vase. Lead glass, colorless; free-blown, engraved and with molded ribs on bowl; deep bowl with straight sides tapering a little to slightly flaring rim and rounding at bottom to short double-ball knopped stem and flat circular foot with rough pontil mark; lower part of bowl with gadroon-ribbed cup casing; upper part with engraved decoration: at top, pinnate circlet (alternate opposing two pairs of hairlike and single ovate leaflet); between circlet and gadrooning, three elaborate swags having polished ovals, oval drops along lower edge, fringe along upper edge in V-formation from point of which conventionalized flower with long stem and two pairs of leaves rise nearly to circlet; at meeting of ends of swags, bow-knot and depending flower like that in V's.Provenance
