Designs in Miniature: The Story of Mosaic Glass
On ViewAncient Gallery
Physical DescriptionLintel with Cobras. Mosaic glass or millefiori elements. Mosaic glass strip (formerly identified as a sawtooth pattern with ivy leaf along one edge). Actually this is the lintel of a miniature shrine with twenty-three cobras forming the horizontal element, their heads are roughly cut in a sawtooth pattern from a monochrome turquoise band which runs above a series of raised bodies delineated with a scale pattern in yellow on a field of blue and turquoise in a long rectangular red matrix.Provenance
