Physical DescriptionVessel, "Birds in the Mine with Trumpet Vine Sings". Transparent purple and opaque black glass; blown, sandblasted. Tall, cylindrical blown vessel in a transparent purple tone, darker at the base and lighter towards the rim with black surface details; sand-blasted black frit reveals purple base tone, richly decorated with natural vines, orchids, birds and a female face gazing into the center of the scene. The words "Birds in the Mine with Trumpet Vine Sings", in blocky, rigid form, follow a curved path around the exterior of the vessel. "This Tangle" in blocky, rigid form, near the base.
