Physical DescriptionBox with Cover (Pyxis). Translucent blue glass with greenish tinge, pitted surface with thin highly iridescent film adhering to interior, some traces on exterior surface; cast, lathe-cut and polished. (b) Flat-topped lid bends down to straight-sided wall, rim ground smooth, underside of top retains wide lathe-cut groove around perimeter as well as concentric lathe-polishing marks all over surface, exterior retains two concentric lathe-cut grooves, 1.8 m. in diameter, around a central dot created by a lathe-cut groove. (a) Cylindrical body with straight sides, wall bends in to form flat base, rim is beveled to receive lid, below ledge created by bevel is a narrowed band, left in relief, with wheel-cut groove decorating it, the vessel wall below has been cut back to highlight the band, near the transition from wall to base a shallow wheel-cut groove decorates the body.Provenance
