Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; blown and engraved. Bulbous body, with waisted neck and flared rim; rounded pouring spout; engraved representations of obverse and reverse of a medal commemorating the Union of England and Scotland in 1707; the obverse, at the left, depicting Queen Anne, facing left, encircled by the inscription "ANNA . D . G . MAG . ET . UNITAE . BRITAE . FRA . ET . HIB . REGINA"; the reverse, at the right, depicts two figures presenting wreaths to each other, a male at the left, a female at the right, inscribed below the wreaths "VIVAT ANNA"; a walled city in the background; inscribed above the figures "ET EXTERIS ETIAM GRATA" and, below, "IN ACTVM LIPSIENSLM / D 26 JULY / 6 AUGUST ANNO MDCCVII. / IN HONOREM MAGNAE UNIONIS / ACCELEARATION . D. NOMNIALIS / ANNAEM . B . R . HABITVM / CURARE FECIT. / C. WERMVTH." a floral spray frames the medals, with roses and stylized flowers and foliage, a spray of flowers projects above the medal at the right; applied heavy loop handle, sheared roughly at the lower terminal; flat base with rough pontil mark.
