Physical DescriptionTransparent, thick, gray-green glass; mold blown. Two compartments, divided by a short angular section, flanked on the exterior by two solid angular bands, the inner open part of which is sufficiently small to prevent a marble (inserted before addition of a mouth) from dropping into a straight-walled lower compartment; upper compartment slightly bulbous with two exterior concave rounds serving as fingerholds; surmounted by a wide collar ending in a rounded, curved-in mouthpiece, with opening too small to permit the marble to fall out; the marble, when the bottle is filled with carbonated pop, is by gas pressure forced against a rubber gasket applied inside the mouth, achieving a perfect closure until a sharp jab with some instrument loosens the marble; a simple strip of paper over the neck would cover the marble.Provenance
