Physical DescriptionReverse Painting, "Mount Vernon, the Seat of the Late General George Washington". Colorless non-lead glass; blown glass; oil paint, paper. Rectangular; distant view of Mt. Vernon framed by foreground of trees with prancing white horse and small dog at left and an enslaved Black man with one arm raised in right foreground; red barn visible to left of house; lake with four sailboats to right; sky of blue, pink and yellow behind. Title inscribed in ink on paper at bottom flanked by two black and gilt foliate medallions with a gilt border above. Frame: gilt wood with large shell and foliate brackets mounted on the mitered corners.Provenance
