Physical DescriptionColorless lead (?) glass; blown, cut, gilded metal mounts. Cylindrical form with spreading foot; the sides cut with four vertical rectangular panels, each with cut vertical ribbing; the remainder of the sides covered with cut diamonds, panel-cut at the base; cut diamonds on the foot rim; the base cut with radial ribbing; applied panel- and horizontal-rib-cut handle; elaborate gilt metal cover, decorated with a Medusa head against a rayed background, two snakes emerging from her hair to form the thumb latch; hinged mount in the form of a bearded male head on handle.Provenance
