Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead (?) glass; wood, brass and paper; tube probably blown. Cylindrical wooden tube enclosing a glass tube exposed at upper end for about 13.7 cm. Glass tube is backed with a paper label printed "WOODRUFF'S PORTABLE/BAROMETER" with one inch measurements from "27" to "31". A brass ring encircles wood at this point; a wire with another wire coiled around it goes through wooden case and paper label and projects from top of case; this appears to be original. A paperclip attaches an original paper tag, now enclosed in plastic which seems to be a Patent Office tag for a model. It is printed with "No" and "Patented" and filled in by hand with "28--/L. Woodruff/ Barometers/June 5th/1860".Provenance
