Physical DescriptionBox: dark grayish blue. Slugs: (A-B) colorless with faint pink or purple tint; (C) transparent pale sepia; (D) transparent blue; (E) transparent light yellow (honey); (F) transparent light yellow; (G-H) transparent pale yellowish green; (I) transparent pale yellowish green, with pink tint in transmitted light; (J-M) transparent reddish amber, of different intensities; (N) transparent pale pink; (O-Q) transparent purplish pink, of different intensities; (R) transparent ruby; box: cardboard, paper and textile, copper (clasp); slugs: glass, some with paper labels; box: components assembled with adhesive; clasp attached with pins. Slugs: cast, ground and polished. Box: rectangular, with lid. Exterior covered with dark grayish blue paper; interior divided into nine parallel compartments and lined with white fabric; closed with copper clasp. Slugs: all except "G" cylindrical, with beveled ends; (A,B,D-F, H, J-R) are octagonal at one end, the flutes extending for one-quarter to two-fifths of the total length; (G) octagonal for entire length. Some slugs have one paper label, inscribed in ink with color and date. The following scratched inscriptions occur: (F) "L 110/I", (G) "L 109 III", (H) "L 109 I", (M) "6 S" or "S 9".
