Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; blown, molded, and engraved. (a) Tall, ovoid form with angular shoulder; waisted neck; trefoil rim and pouring spout; engraved decoration consisting of a border of paired dots on either side of a line, a ring of matte dots, two rings of tiny matte dots on either side of three narrow incised rings, an undulating foliate band, another band of tiny matte dots and incised rings, and a band of waves, incised lines, dots, and scrolls at the base of the neck; the sides with four overlapping grape vine swags, each centering a bird in various stances, with a ring of tiny dots at the base; applied spirally-twisted loop handle, the lower terminal cut into a pointed oval; scratched ".3" on the rim, to the left of the upper terminal of the handle; short stem formed of two flattened knops; foot with rim folded upward, with engraved dot and paired-dot rings on the underside; polished pontil mark. (b) Hollow, spherical ball with engraved band of matte ovals around the mid-section; tiny solid ball on top; drawn, tall, hollow, cylindrical stem, flared at the bottom into a tapered, polished shank with flat, polished bottom.
