Physical DescriptionPitcher (filigrana a retortoli). Colorless, with grayish tinge; seeds; lattimo. Vetro a fili, vetro a retorti; applied, tooled. Ovoid body drawn into narrow tubular neck with spreading trefoil orifice, strengthened by applied colorless ribbon; joined by colorless merese to blown, flattened knop, which is attached by second colorless merese to shallow, blown pedestal foot with applied colorless ribbon on edge and with pontil mark.

S curved handle incorporating spiral of lattimo threads rises from shoulder, upper end of which was trimmed off with straight shears, folded, and attached to rim opposite pouring spout. Colorless prunt with mask (of Neptune?) is applied to lower end of handle. Ribbon consisting of five ply spiral band edged by opaque white canes is laid around shoulder. Body, knop, and foot are decorated with spiral filigrana canes with bands a fili alternating with cables of six strands a retorti. Ends of ribbon on shoulder meet so that there is no apparent interruption of spiral motif.

Surface shows many specks of black flakes, especially on handle and on shoulder ribbon; traces of red residue on neck and foot, probably from tooling with metal jacks. White canes on handle are randomly distributed.

Body: 54 canes
Foot: 60 canes
